The
merry month of May, a time to rejoice in spring flowers, Mother’s Day, and
graduations, so many delightful opportunities for sewing creativity. A totally fun & quick idea is to make
photo frames from bits and pieces of leftover fabrics and trims, a gift any mom
or graduate would cherish.

April Showers ~

The
old saying “April showers bring May flowers” brought to my mind a wonderful
spring sewing project.  How about a rain
poncho made from a shower curtain??  I
can’t take full credit for this idea, as it was featured in a sewing magazine I
receive, Sew News March 2007 issue, I did make some modifications on their idea
however.

Holiday Sewing Fun!

Ho! Ho! Ho! The Holidays are upon us! The time of year when those that sew are busy little elves creating one of kind gifts and sprucing up the home.

A good project for putting your home in the holiday mood is quick & easy tablerunner and placemats. You can let your imagination run wild with fabric choices this time of year, so many festive options, I chose an unlikely combination of polka dots for this project however.

Here it is October, in the midst of fall, if you’re not out side raking falling leaves, I bet you’re inside sewing some nifty projects. And with October, how can we not think about Halloween costumes? What do the little ones want to be this year? And Halloween isn’t just for the young, but also the young at heart!

Well, here it is September – it’s time to celebrate International Sewing Month! This is a great time of year to reminisce about your early days of learning to sew. Whether it was at the knee of your mom, grandma, aunt, home ec teacher or friend’s mom — thank your lucky stars that the love of sewing was passed along to you! Needle and thread is such a wonderful creative outlet for anyone at nearly any age.
